Pass the Torch

Pass the Torch is a free peer-to-peer tutoring service that links students who excel in English, English for Second-Language Learners (ESLL), Literature, Humanities, Social Sciences, Mathematics, and Chemistry with students who want tutoring support in these same core courses. The one-on-one study teams are paired by their mutual availability and meet for two hours each week.

Math Performance Success

With the Math Performance Success (MPS) program, a team of instructors, counselor and tutors work closely with students to provide a supportive environment and help them succeed in Math. Go to foothill.edu/mps for more information.

Tutoring

The Tutoring Center, located in Building 3600, offers free reading, writing and grammar tutoring for students across all subjects and disciplines. Our center also provides Conversation Practice hours for students who would like to practice their English conversational skills, and scholarship writing support for those who are interested in polishing their scholarship and admissions essays. Tutoring is provided by both faculty and peer tutors available for one-on-one and small groups on a drop-in basis, and appointments can be scheduled in advance. STEM tutoring is also available for Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, and Computer Science.

Workshops are also offered on a variety of topics such as strengthening reading and writing skills, student success strategies and can be customized to students' needs. The Media Lab within the 3600 building contains more than 60 computers for students to use, and there are four group study rooms that are bookable through the website.
