Pass the Torch
Pass the Torch is a free tutoring program with a dynamic, collaborative, and successful study team format, supporting students in the following subjects: English, English for Second-Language Learners (ESLL), composition, literature and mathematics. Science, Technology, Engineering & Math Success Center
The Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) Success Center offers free support and tutoring in biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, networking technologies, physics, geography, accounting, and economics. Foothill’s faculty staff the center, and one-to-one tutoring is offered in a supportive and stress-free environment.
The center is comprised of several labs with specific focus areas, based on discipline, knowledge level and learning style. Each lab has a different schedule to best serve the various student populations. The center also has computers with the latest software used in STEM classes. Writing & Learning Center
The Writing and Language Center (WLC), formerly known as the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC), located in Building 3600, offers free reading, writing and grammar tutoring for students across all subjects and disciplines. Our center also provides Conversation Practice hours for students who would like to practice their English conversational skills, and scholarship writing support for those who are interested in polishing their scholarship and admissions essays. WLC tutoring is provided by both faculty and peer tutors available for one-on-one and small groups on a drop-in basis, and appointments can be scheduled in advance.
Workshops are also offered on a variety of topics such as strengthening reading and writing skills, student success strategies and can be customized to students’ needs. WLC tutoring and workshops are currently provided both virtually and in-person, for current hours of operation for both our online and in-person opportunities please visit our WLC site. The Media Lab within the 3600 building contains more than 60 computers for students to use, and there are four group study rooms that are bookable through the website.
