Non-Credit: Photojournalism
Program Description
The noncredit Certificate of Completion in Photojournalism provides career preparation through courses that meet workforce needs in visual media and storytelling. Students develop skills in documentary photography, visual storytelling, caption writing, and ethical image-making that are valued in journalism, digital media, nonprofit communication, and documentary practice. The program builds a strong technical and conceptual foundation in photographic technique, editing, and responsible visual reporting. Skills gained are transferable to industries that rely on photography for marketing, public relations, and organizational storytelling. Students may continue into for-credit photography or journalism certificates and the Associate in Arts Degree in Photography.

Program Learning Outcomes
- Graduates will be able to demonstrate technical proficiency in photographic camera operation, composition, exposure, and digital workflow appropriate to photojournalistic practice.
- Graduates will be able to produce coherent visual stories that communicate information clearly and accurately through images, captions, and sequencing.
- Graduates will be able to apply ethical standards and journalistic principles in the creation, editing, and presentation of documentary photographs.
- Graduates will be able to analyze and evaluate visual media content with attention to context, accuracy, and impact.
