- Assess and analyze the complexities and patterns of issue/project in the context of the discipline of Women's Studies.
- Develop advanced research skills focusing on a topic in the discipline of Women's Studies.
Description
Provides an opportunity for the student to expand their studies in the Women's Studies discipline beyond the classroom by completing a project or an assignment arranged by agreement between the student and instructor. The student is required to contract with the instructor to determine the scope of assignment and the unit value assigned for successful completion. Students may take a maximum of 6 units of Independent Study per department.
Course Objectives
The student will be able to:
- Plan an independent study project in the Women's Studies discipline
- Conduct the study by means of literature research, fieldwork, or laboratory work, or other means mutually agreed upon in the student-faculty contract as appropriate for the discipline
- Present the results of the study in a written or oral report or by some other means as determined by the contract
