Student Learning Outcomes

  • Students shall be able to examine and organize formal components to best express individual ideas and goals. Student shall be able to identify successful as well as problematic areas in their work in order to pose and find solutions.
  • Student shall be able to compile all works created during the term in order to assess technical growth. Student shall be able to articulate and develop personal point of view analyzing works created during the term.
  • The student will be able to demonstrate the technical and/or creative application of a photographic technique

Description

Provides an opportunity for the student to expand their studies in photography beyond the classroom by completing a project or an assignment arranged by agreement between the student and instructor. The student is required to contract with the instructor to determine the scope of assignment and the unit value assigned for successful completion. Students may take a maximum of 6 units of Independent Study per department.

Course Objectives

The student will be able to:

  1. Plan an independent study project in photography
  2. Conduct the study by means of literature research, fieldwork, or laboratory work, or other means mutually agreed upon in the student-faculty contract as appropriate for the discipline
  3. Present the results of the study in a written or oral report or by some other means as determined by the contract
