Description

Provides an opportunity for the student to expand their studies in Physical Education beyond the classroom by completing a project or an assignment arranged by agreement between the student and instructor. The student is required to contract with the instructor to determine the scope of assignment and the unit value assigned for successful completion. Students may take a maximum of 6 units of Independent Study per department.

Course Objectives

The student will be able to:
A. Plan an independent study project in Physical Education.
B. Conduct the study by means of literature research, fieldwork or laboratory work or other means mutually agreed upon in the student-faculty contract as appropriate for the discipline.
C. Present the results of the study in a written or oral report or by some other means as determined by the contract.

Course Content

This course is based on independent research or course of study related to the topics outlined in the student contract.

Lab Content

Activities will vary with each instructor. Instructors will design appropriate physical education activities for the student.
