Description
This course covers safe cable pulling, equipment selection, and operating fundamentals, including best practices, proper use, and avoiding hazards.
Course Objectives
The student will be able to:
- Apply cable pulling and equipment selection guidelines, and understand the safe operating fundamentals necessary for performing cable pulls efficiently and safely.
- Select the appropriate equipment for various pulling scenarios and follow best practices to prevent injuries, equipment damage, and cable failures.
Course Content
- Overview of cable pulling operations and associated risks
- Guidelines for selecting appropriate cable pulling equipment based on job scope and conditions
- Inspection and setup of pulling equipment
- Understanding cable tension, bend radius, and lubrication requirements
- Safe operating procedures and communication protocols
- Recognizing and mitigating cable pulling hazards
- Emergency stop procedures and response
- Proper handling, storage, and maintenance of cable pulling equipment
- CEI and manufacturer safety standards
