Student Learning Outcomes

- Inspect rigging gear (shackles, hooks, slings) for wear or damage (rejection criteria)
- Calculate tension on slings based on rigging angles
- Demonstrate standard hand and voice signals for crane operations
Description
This course covers topics related to the techniques, principles, and practices of basic rigging and signaling, as well as the associated hazards.
Course Objectives
The student will be able to:
- Assist in safe lifting operations by applying proper rigging methods, using standard hand signals, and recognizing unsafe conditions.
- Demonstrate and understand the techniques, principles, and practices of basic rigging and signaling, associated hazards, and instruction.
- Inspect and properly use slings, shackles, hooks, and other rigging hardware.
Course Content
- 7 hours on Rigging and Signaling Authorized Person Training
- Introduction to basic rigging components and terminology
- Slings, shackles, hooks, and other rigging hardware
- Load weight estimation and center of gravity considerations
- Rigging configuration and angle calculations
- Standard hand and voice signaling techniques; roles and responsibilities of riggers and signalers
- Communication and coordination during lifts
- Identification and control of rigging-related hazards; CEI safety policies and applicable regulatory standards
- 8 hours on Rigging and Signaling Authorized Person - T-t-T Training
