Student Learning Outcomes

- Identify common materials and equipment requiring rigging
Description
This course covers the basic rigging and lifting techniques that electricians need for the most common types of material and equipment used on projects.
Course Objectives
The student will be able to:
- Assess the situation when moving heavy equipment.
- Locate the center of gravity for all types of loads and determine what type of equipment is best for the task.
- Understand the safest way to move material from one point to its final location.
- Understand what to look for when transporting any type of material.
Course Content
- Provide examples of different types of materials and loads commonly moved on the job.
- Explain the safest methods for transporting materials from the starting point to the final destination.
- Identify key considerations and safety checks when moving any type of material.
- Review CEI's best practices and lessons learned related to material handling.
Lab Content
- Safe material handling and transport in the workplace
- Proper methods for moving, and key safety precautions during material transport
