Student Learning Outcomes
- Students must be able to fabricate a non-acrylic provisional crown for a posterior molar.
- The student must participate in a mock state board practical examination and perform a blind peer evaluation of the final product.
- The student must participate in a mock state board written examination and pass with a 75% or better.
Description
Course Objectives
The student will be able to:
A. Dental Assisting Theory and Practice
1. develop an understanding of new developments affecting the practice of registered dental assistants.
2. develop an understanding of the material and requirements necessary for licensure in the State of California.
3. mix, place and evaluate a zinc oxide eugenol Class II temporary restoration.
4. manipulate and temporarily cement temporary crowns on a prepared typodont tooth.
5. take mock written and mock practical examinations within satisfactory guidelines for state and national certification and licensure.
B. Infection Control and Hazardous Waste Management
1. perform RDA licensure exam procedures with appropriate personal protective equipment.
C. Ethical and Legal Principles
1. identify procedures which are legally allowed.

1. Dental Assisting Theory and Practice: dental assisting students must be competent in applying the theory and practice of dental assisting for persons of all ages and abilities.
