Description
Course Objectives
The student will be able to:
A. Construct complex flashing, gutter and downspout connections.
B. Demonstrate professional vertical soldering skills.
C. Plan HVAC equipment and duct installations.
D. Assess retrofit installations.
E. Integrate take-offs and measurements with residential plans.

A. Gutters and Downspouts
1. Roof jacks
2. Complex gutter installation
3. Complex leader head and downspout installation
4. Diverters, scuppers, flashing and counterflashing
5. Complex miter problems
6. Architectural applications and metal roofing roofing basics
B. Soldering
1. Soldering safety and review of common techniques
2. Vertical soldering techniques and standards
3. Soldering with a variety of joint orientations, seams, materials
C. HVAC Equipment and Ducting
1. Math review for residential sheet metal
2. Natural gas vs. propane furnaces
3. Furnace and air conditioning connections
4. Residential control systems
5. Residential duct work
6. Grilles and registers
7. Job sequence and scheduling
