- A student will be able to explain principles & theory of electricity and magnetism.

The student will be able to:
A. Define the National Electrical Code.
B. Apply codeology to building plans and drawings.
C. Demonstrate an understanding of AC theory.
D. Demonstrate how to effectively read blueprints.

7. Correlate information from other trades plans with electrical plans to determine potential conflicts
A. Students will demonstrate the proper safety techniques in the testing of voltage.
B. Students will demonstrate the use of blueprints to determine electrical equipment layout.
C. Students will calculate voltage drops and verify calculations through the use of voltage meters.

Types and/or Examples of Required Reading, Writing, and Outside of Class Assignments
A. Read the syllabus on the Second Year Core Curriculum from the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee Student Workbook (2014).
B. Read chapters 1-5 in the AC Theory Student Workbook for the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (NJATC).
C. Prepare a Codes and Practices worksheet from the Codes and Practices Student Workbook.
D. Complete chapter 6 on Code Calculations in the NJATC Student Workbook.
