Student Learning Outcomes

  • The student will be able to demonstrate correct technique for handling interventional pulmonology equipment.
  • The student will be able to perform proper cleaning of interventional pulmonology equipment.

Description

Clinical application of basic interventional pulmonology procedures. Interpretation of basic diagnostic data and correlation to applied therapies. Procedures will include bronchoscopy for diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, such as alveolar lavage.

Course Objectives

The student will be able to:
A. Demonstrate the ability to read a patient's chart and give a hand-off report
B. Demonstrate correct technique for personal asepsis
C. Demonstrate correct technique for handling interventional pulmonology equipment
D. Correctly perform the duties involved in assisting with procedures
E. Complete a chest examination and a patient assessment
F. Demonstrate proper technique for cleaning and sterilization of equipment
G. Perform accurate charting and documentation

The student will demonstrate proficiency by successfully completing competency checklists and by daily evaluations conducted by clinical preceptors.
