Student Learning Outcomes

  • The student will demonstrate knowledge of the configuration and use of Virtual Distributed switches in a virtual infrastructure.
  • The student will demonstrate the use of vMotion in a virtual infrastructure environment.


This course covers all aspects of server virtualization and draws its examples from VMware vSphere. This hands-on training course explores installation, configuration, and management of VMware vSphere, which consists of VMware ESXi and VMware vCenter Server. The course is based on ESXi and vCenter Server. Completion of this course satisfies the prerequisite for taking the VMware Certified Professional exam. Course is taught by a VMware certified instructor.

A. Access to a network laboratory with current Cisco network equipment host computers required to support the class.

This applies to all sections, including on-campus (i.e., face-to-face) offerings.
C. When taught via Foothill Global Access on the Internet, the college will provide a fully functional and maintained course management system through which the instructor and students can interact.
D. When taught via Foothill Global Access on the Internet, students must have currently existing email accounts and ongoing access to computers with internet capabilities.
