Description

This course provides an overview of leadership and management styles and effective communication skills in the workplace. Current healthcare economics, employment outlook, and interviewing skills are also covered. Preparation for the National Board for Respiratory Care Examination, including content outlines, self-evaluation, the application process, and mock examinations. Intended for students in the Respiratory Therapy Program; enrollment is limited to students accepted in the program.

Course Objectives

The student will be able to:

  1. Differentiate between the different management and leadership styles.
  2. Discuss effective communication skills.
  3. Describe current healthcare employment opportunities across the respiratory therapy profession.
  4. Demonstrate the necessary skills for obtaining an employment interview.
  5. Conduct self-evaluations to identify areas of deficiency in preparation for the written Board exam and clinical simulation examinations.
