Student Learning Outcomes
- Review different aspects of patient care including: suctioning and infection control through different media programs.
- Support concurrent lecture and laboratory sessions through an alternative learning resource. Students will demonstrate knowledge of Nebulizer therapy and aerosol therapy.
Description
Course Objectives
The student will be able to describe and demonstrate the following skills:
- Adult Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Child Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Infant Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Pediatric vital signs assessment.
- Infant vital signs assessment.
- Aerosol medication delivery.
- Arterial blood gas (ABG) procedures and interpretation.
- Proper airway procedures during respiratory care.
- Proper suctioning procedures during respiratory care.
- Proper ventilation procedures during respiratory care.
- Non-invasive ventilation and COVID.
- The historical perspective of mechanical ventilation.
Course Content
Modules cover theory, procedure, indications, and contraindications for the following skills. Students will need to complete and pass the modules in order to show competency at this level.
