Student Learning Outcomes

  • Recognize normal and abnormal anatomical structures.
  • List the differential diagnosis that is responsible for sonographic changes.

Description

Sixth course in the critique and pathology series. Continuation of DMS 60E. Includes advanced critique of normal and abnormal anatomical images as a review for abdomen-extended, gynecology, and obstetrics registry board exams. Emphasis on effective communication skills via written and oral case presentations and image critiques. Intended for students in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program; enrollment is limited to students accepted in the program.

Course Objectives

The student will be able to:

  1. Describe the normal findings in the sonographic images of abdomen, small parts, pelvis, and obstetrics in oral communication
  2. Describe the abnormal findings in the sonographic images of the abdomen, small parts, pelvis, and obstetrics in oral communication
  3. Explain the relationship of the clinical history, symptoms, and laboratory findings with the sonographic images of the abdomen, small parts, pelvis, and obstetrics in oral communication
  4. Demonstrate effective communication skills with clinical preceptors
