Description
Third in the series of anatomy and physiology courses. A continuation of DMS 53B. Includes bladder, prostate, and gastrointestinal tract, with an emphasis on clinical presentations in the pediatric patient. Intended for students in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program; enrollment is limited to students accepted in the program.
Course Objectives
The student will be able to:
- Describe the anatomy of the lower abdominal structures
- Describe the physiology of the lower abdominal structures
- Differentiate between normal versus abnormal anatomy of the lower abdominal structures
- Differentiate between normal versus abnormal physiology of the lower abdominal structures
- Describe normal and abnormal pediatric anatomy
- Describe clinical signs and symptoms of lower abdominal abnormalities
- Describe laboratory tests and findings for lower abdominal organ systems
