Description

Third in the series of anatomy and physiology courses. A continuation of DMS 53B. Includes bladder, prostate, and gastrointestinal tract, with an emphasis on clinical presentations in the pediatric patient. Intended for students in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program; enrollment is limited to students accepted in the program.

Course Objectives

The student will be able to:

  1. Describe the anatomy of the lower abdominal structures
  2. Describe the physiology of the lower abdominal structures
  3. Differentiate between normal versus abnormal anatomy of the lower abdominal structures
  4. Differentiate between normal versus abnormal physiology of the lower abdominal structures
  5. Describe normal and abnormal pediatric anatomy
  6. Describe clinical signs and symptoms of lower abdominal abnormalities
  7. Describe laboratory tests and findings for lower abdominal organ systems
